Let’s be real, homies: the politics of today are becoming ridiculous and exhausting. I’d like to pretend to be an unbiased journalist, but this is 2012 and as much as I would love the return of the fashion from the 1950s, politically we must represent the time and age we live in, which means equality for all. Get to the Flask Lounge on Sunday and help support equality for everyone—while shaking your booty. But before that, enjoy all of the spooky-themed events the weekend is shoveling out. We’ve got a couple of great shows, as well as a performance by the legendary Henry Rollins. Happy Halloween and have a fantastic weekend! And remember, vote like its 2012 and drink like its 1920 and alcohol is verboten.

7. Space Gallery Halloween Party

Lacking in Halloween parties to attend? Lacking in friends? This intern is, so I’m going to Space Gallery this Saturday because they are throwing a Halloween party that is open to the public. What? I’m not afraid to admit I’m a loner; I had to find SOMEWHERE to wear wallflower costume (a tulip costume that requires me to stand against a wall, unspeaking, for a prolonged period of time). It’s 21+ and costs $10. Again: What? Friendship may be free, but being a wallflower is not.

Where: Space Gallery, 538 Congress St, Portland, ME

8. The Fogcutters Halloween Speakeasy Ball

9. Paddy Murphy’s Halloween Party
