Ho Ho Ho! Holidays are creeping around the corner. Are you ready? I sure as heck am not. I haven’t done an inch of shopping but thats what this weekend is for, right folks?! Well, anyway, Band of Horses is coming to the State Theater tomorrow night, which is sure to be a great show. They are amazing live. There is also Freeport’s Annual Sparkle Weekend, First Friday Art Walk and a couple of other things. These are just a few things, check out Conor’s weekend selection as well.
1. Band of Horses at The State Theater
The infamous Seattle-bred American rock band takes to the shores of Portland this Saturday night at The State Theater. They just recently released their fourth album, Mirage Rock, which if you haven’t heard is amazing. Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 at the door, which opens at 7 pm.

2. Freeport’s 19th Annual Sparkle Weekend
If you’re thinking what I’m thinking: Oooooh, a weekend of sparkles and jewels and piles of money for everyone! Alas. I’m wrong and so are you. Wouldn’t that be nice? But anyways, this is actually a pretty sweet event. Every year Freeport throws a beautiful holiday celebration that includes things like a parade, art, music AND a talking Christmas Tree. This isn’t me joking, this one is for real. That’s right, now you can spend the next several hours thinking about what you would ask a tree if ever given the opportunity.

3. First Friday Art Walk
You know the drill. Head to the Arts district of Portland tonight and embark on a self-guided tour of the local art galleries. It’s free and a great way to spend your Friday night.

4. Space Gallery’s Letter Circle
For those of you who have been meaning to send a hand written letter but haven’t taken the time, Space Gallery’s Letter Circle is just for you. They provide the paper, writing utensils and a nice warm beverage. What a great excuse to reach out to loved ones the old fashion way.

5. A Christmas Carol
Head out to Freeport and catch the one man show of A Christmas Carol starring Broadway veteran Will Rhys. Tickets are $15.00
