There she is, Miss Maine Homebrewers Competition,
There she is, your master brewer,
The dream of a million bottles who you adore can come true
in Bangor,
For she may turn out to be the Queen of fermentation.

Yes, it has finally happened. The annual announcement of the best home brewers that the great beer drinking state of Maine has to offer. So without further delay (since we’re already a few days late. My bad—Ed) here are your winners for 2012:

COUNTRY WINE
Winner: Mark Libby, Dexter, ME
+ honorable mention for taking 2nd, 3rd, 4th place as well

KIT WINE
Winner: Dave Rocker, Hampden, ME – Sangiovese

MEAD/CIDER
Winner: Sylvia Ferrell, Bucksport, ME – Cyser

BEER
First Place Winner: Zafra Whitcomb, Montville, ME – Sorachi Pils
Second Place (tie): Chris McLaughlin, Bangor, ME – Chai Saison
Will Turner, Ellsworth, ME – Doppelbock
Third Place: Ben Deering, Bangor, ME – Rauchbier
Fourth Place: Paul Hallee – Barleywine

Congrats to all the intrepid DIY-ers. From here you have two obvious choices: One is that you Facebook stalk these fine people and get some of their concoctions for yourself. Two is that you get yourself a brew kit and enter in next year. Go.
