“I don’t really know any investment bankers, people who own yachts,” says Maine rapper and totally awesome artist Spose in his latest, non-musical video. “I don’t know Mitt Romney, I don’t know Jay-Z. The only people I know who’ve given me any money are my fans.”
As you might have guessed, it’s a call to arms—or rather, wallets. Spose has two new releases “ready to go,” but he doesn’t have enough funds to make videos. As he writes on his Kickstarter page, these days, a video is far more important than just a song. In order to get his music out, he needs to make some videos. And in order to do that, he needs some money. That’s where you come in.
Spose is asking for donations from you, his fans. Ideally, he wants to raise $25,000 to make some dope videos. But don’t fret, dude’s not asking for handouts: Spose is also offering over 20 unreleased songs for just $5, plus a bunch of swag and “one-of-a-kind Spose memorabilia.” Pledge money on Kickstarter, and you’ll get something back immediately. Plus, you get to call yourself a patron of the arts, and that’s pretty rad.
