The night of October 30th will mark a rare, and epic evening for the city of Bangor. Geared towards dance party fanatics, and electropop enthusiast alike, it’s the eve of Halloween, and Soylent Green is throwing one hell of a party. Featuring Brooklyn-based artists Holy Ghost! and Jessica 6, along with the smooth style of DJ Eli Escobar, come prepared to get fueled up on energy drinks- or several strong cocktails- and dance the night away.

Before I go any further, you may be wondering a few things. #1- Who is Soylent Green? And #2-  Who are Holy Ghost!? (By the way, I feel question number two applies to humans like myself- who may be unsure of what exactly the genre “indie-electronic” is).

Let me fill you in.

Soylent Green- also fully known as Soylent Green Is Made Of People- is an underground blog that focuses in on the entertainment industry, featuring a variety of random information including celebrity gossip, viral videos, cool gadgets, photos, films, and music. All writers blog from one of two places: Brooklyn, New York, or Bangor, Maine. The kicker? Some of the authors are given credit for their work, while others remain anonymous- leaving a mysterious, yet engaging feel to the site.

Holy Ghost! is an electro pop duo composed of New York natives Nick Millhiser and Alex Frankel. The two grew up together, and eventually made their mark in the New York music scene as prominent artists who create killer dance anthems. As I mentioned earlier, I may not be savvy in the field of music that these two produce, but the more I listen, the more it enthralls me.  Holy Ghost! layers an array of sounds- a steady beat, synthesizers, and vocals- producing energetic tunes that make you want to move. The duo will be the headlining act for the evening of Sunday, October 30th, creating a full- blown dance party for the city of Bangor.

I was fortunate enough to catch up with a few core members of Soylent Green to hear about the upcoming show. “The whole reason we did this is because we wanted to bring a fun dance party to Bangor. We love Holy Ghost!. They’ve toured with Chromeo, and they are just a couple of dudes from Brooklyn playing great dance music,” said one of the anonymous Soylent Green bloggers. They then went on to say, “The show is for all ages. We will have a full bar for 21+ attendees, and Monster will provide free energy drinks for everyone.  We’ll have lasers, GO-GO dancers, and glow sticks.”

Don’t miss one of the biggest dance parties happening in Bangor this fall. The show starts around 7:30 PM at the Shriners Building on 586 Main Street. Tickets are $20, and can be purchased  here in advance. For music from Holy Ghost!, click here.
