This past Monday, the City Council in Portland granted Port City Music Hall a license to host late-night entertainment, which makes them among one of the few places in town with this privilege (Styxx, Platinum Plus, and 51 Wharf also have this license).
Since Port City is the first music-centric venue in town to receive this license, a debate has been sparked over city policy and will continue to play out in council meetings over the coming weeks to determine whether or not it’s a good idea for music venues to obtain such a license.
For more details on this debate, check out this article on The Forcaster.
So we wanted to ask you, the reader, what you thought about the idea of late night music venues. Would this help or hurt the city of Portland? Keep in mind, this has nothing to do with pushing back the time that alcohol can be sold (which is currently at 1AM in Portland).
Please leave a comment below if you’d like to elaborate on your choice, so we can have a debate of our own!
