I don’t know about you, but I love me some hunks, almost as much as I love me some punks. So I was psyched to discover the The Punk Hunks of Comedy are coming back to a Portland stage for PHC2: Bigger, Badder, Better. But this time, they’re bringing all the hunky glory to the great outdoors–well, kind of: the patio of Matthew’s, Portland’s Oldest Pub. I’ve been to Matthew’s just twice in my life and both times I was simulatenously nervous and excited, the way only a little blogger with self-esteem issues can be when she smells cheap beer and possible danger. Never been to Matthew’s? Let me share one Yelp reviewer’s summation of this delightfully divey watering hole:
Umm…sold! And I imagine you are, too. So head over to Matthew’s on Saturday, September 8th, unless of course, you’re a Whole Foods shopper? For only three dollars you get to watch six of New England’s perviest/best looking comedians do their thang. And by thang, I mean get drunk and tell obscene jokes on stage.
Join Joe Ricchio (Food Coma TV), Brian Brinegar, Ian Stuart (“Daydrinker”), Will Green (Offbeat Comedy), Joe Timmins (the guy who claims to be “unbookable” despite all these shows he’s clearing being booked for) and Connor McGrath (“That’s Just It! With Connor and Kurt”) for what’s sure to be an eventful Saturday night. Word to the wise: all ex-girlfriends of aforementioned comics may want to steer clear, unless of course you like humiliation, in which case, get some, get some, girl.
Show starts at 8pm and again, it’s only $3. That’s right MECA hipsters: for the same price as your beloved can of PBR, you get to see these hunked up comics in action. Oh, let’s get real–you hipsters would only go to Matthew’s ironically, so this is probably falling on deaf ears (or blind black-thick-rimmed-glasses-covered eyes?). Unless I can convince you that PHC2 is some new indie-electronica-folk act out of Seattle or something.
Hope to see you all there, getting buck wild and taking your tops off (I’m lookin’ at you, Joe Ricchio).
