This week, One Longfellow Square welcomes Kippy Rudy as the new Director of the Portland nonprofit arts venue. Rudy brings to OLS her 20 years of experience in fundraising and nonprofit arts management in Maine; General Manager at PORTopera, Marketing and Development Director at Portland Stage, and Director and Foundation Relations at the Portland Museum of Art are among her previous prominent positions. Understandably, the folks at One Longfellow are psyched. So psyched, they’re throwing a free concert to celebrate. And you’re all invited.
The shindig is called “One Night Only: Lady Zen & Gentlemen (OLS Welcomes Kippy Rudy)” and is set to go down this Wednesday, October 24th. It runs from 8pm-10pm, which means you’ve got time to grab dinner beforehand at any of the renowned restaurants in the square AND check out the ’90s-infused Oasis vs. Blur Clash of the Titans later on at Empire. The concert features Zen, alongside Emmett Harrity, Nich Merriam, and Mike Chass, doing some jazz ballads, as well as some original poetry for good measure. And it’s absolutely free. So come one, come all to welcome Ms. Rudy, celebrate this new era of OLS, and enjoy free (and topnotch) entertainment in one of Portland’s coolest hubs, Longfellow Square.
