Now that the NBA finals are over and the Summer Olympics are still a few weeks away, it is the perfect time to go out and impress all those local talent scouts. Luckily for all you parquet warriors, there is the annual Old Port Hoopla 3 on 3 tournament going on this weekend, where all of the who’s who of Maine basketball world are going to be. Okay, I’m going to be completely honest with you right now. That whole talent scout thing was a joke. Sorry. To prove my point, let me share that only three NBA players have ever played in more than 75 games that went to high school in Maine: Caron Butler, Dermarr Johnson, Brad Miller. So maybe the talent scouts won’t be in attendance, but that doesn’t matter. What matters is that you get your friends together and sign up.
There are 3 different caegories for the Men’s portion: Hot Shots (Very Competitive), Weekend Warrior (Semi-Competitive), and Couch Potato (Casual). There is also a Women’s Open (18+), Boys and Girls High School, and a middle school level. So whatever your talent level is, there will be enough competition for all.
Sounds fun, right? Go here and sign up yourself and a couple friends for whatever category fits your gender/age the best. There will be 3 play-in games on Saturday followed by the single elimination tourney on Sunday.
