Well, it’s Monday and I’ve gotten up two times to get down with the sickness (yes, I just made that reference because I am delusional I am so ill right now), but that will not stop me from enjoying all the sights and sounds Monday has to offer, so let’s check ‘er out.
Another dose of Heavy Metal Monday is happening over at The Asylum in Portland tonight as some of the areas heaviest, hardest metal bands are showcased in this month’s metal event that takes place every third Monday of the month. Pounding out on stage tonight are Spirit Quest, Death Cloud, Harbor, Adversaries and Super Order. If you’re looking to thrash out those Monday Blues and fist pump until you can’t fist pump anymore, then I would suggest getting yourself over to The Asylum right around 8pm tonight.
I’m hoping to have enough life in me later to funk this Monday right on up. Every Monday night over at The Big Easy in Portland The Supersunsonics bring their electro-funk-improv orchestra to the stage for a night full of free, fun funk. The Supersunsonics are comprised of some of the scenes most innovative players and they promise to bring you sounds that are certain to make your Monday multitudes better. These fellas deliver funk and soul mixed with a little bit of electro-flair that are sure get you moving all evening long. The Supersunsonics get ready to break it down starting right around 10pm over at The Big Easy, check it out.
Monday nights also mean free bluegrass over at Empire Dine and Dance in Portland where you can not only take in some traditional bluegrass from Portland’s own bluegrass supergroup, The Stowaways, but you can participate in an open bluegrass jam beginning at 6 o’clock. Bring something to pick and/or pluck and get ready to jam out, The Stowaways will keep things rolling along at 8pm with a set of tunes for you to tap your feet to.
