Make Some Monday Magic Happen!

I’m assuming that most of the world may still be in recovery mode from this past weekend’s non-stop partying.  For the most part I took yesterday off, but I’m still slightly dragging a bit of bum today.  But it’s a new year and one shouldn’t spend all their time alone watching stupid cat videos on YouTube while eating Wheat Thins in their studio apartment, so it’s time to fold up the sweat pants and make some Monday magic happen.

If you’re ready to work it on out on the dance floor tonight, I would suggest throwing on those trust Party Pants and making your way over to The Big Easy tonight for Mother Leopard.  Mother Leopard are an in-your-face, get up and rock out band from right here in Portland, Maine.  They provide Monday nights with a healthy dose of funk infused, fat bottomed rock and/or roll.  You can check ‘em out every Monday night over at The Big Easy beginning at 10pm.

If you’re looking to take in some tunes in an atmosphere that doesn’t really require you to bust a move or cut a rug, you can head over to Empire Dine and Dance in Portland for some toe tapping twang courtesy of The Stowaways.  The Stowaways are Portland’s own super group boasting players such as Joe Walsh and often times Bob Hamilton to name a few.  Every Monday night you can head down to The Empire for a beverage and some bluegrass for free downstairs.  Check it out beginning at 8 o’clock tonight.

If you missed The Couch with host John Nels last evening at The Empire, you can get your open mic on tonight over at RiRa on Commercial Street in Portland with Evan Walsh aka EvGuy.  Drink slinger and music aficionado, EvGuy, welcomes all to join what he calls ‘a talent show for adults, but without the prize.’  Everyone is encouraged to get creative and participate whether it be playing a tune, doing some stand up comedy or just showing off any entertaining skill they might have.  Apparently the last few weeks have been pretty hoppin’ so get there early to sign up and show what you’ve got.  Things get crackin’ around 8 o’clock tonight at RiRa.
