Sometimes we all need a good laugh, in which case, don’t watch any Dane Cook DVDs.
Once November hits, you’ll especially need something to laugh about; Halloween will be over and you’ll be faced with the realization that you just ate your weight in candy corn, you don’t have dental insurance, and dressing like a slut in public won’t be appropriate for another 364 days. That’s why I always watch Firefly before going to bed in the first post-Halloween days. I need Joss Whedon’s witty banter to keep me from crying myself to sleep. Know what I mean? Luckily, you too can keep the post-Halloween tears at bay and jack up your candy-ridden abs by heading to the City Sports Grille in Spare Time Bowling this Saturday, November 3rd at 8:30 for the final round of Maine’s Funniest Comic Search.
The comics competing for the title will be Matt Kona, James Creelman, Bryce Hanson, Ian Van Steffen, Doug Blay, Jesse Bickford, Jordan Handren-Seavey (Portland’s Funniest Professional 2012), and Chris Dimitrakopoulus. Hosted by Tammy Pooler and headlined by Portland comic Paul Hunt. While only one winner goes home with the title, big prizes have been promised to both the 1st and 2nd place winners. What kind of big prizes? I have absolutely no idea but you should probably go and find out.
So get out there and support local comedy! Tickets are just $5. You can also expect food and drink specials Lionel Richie style—all night long. And if you spent all your money on your costume (lingerie) and Halloween candy, you can indulge in the FREE popcorn and peanuts.
