I kicked off the weekend properly last evening with multiple vodka sodas, some great live jams and wonderful old friends and will continue on that trajectory this evening, so bring it, Saturday, let’s see what you’ve got!
The Jaw Gems kick off the first in a series of roving house concerts tonight, which will feature some of the heaviest players around town playing a wide variety of music featuring everything from hip hop, R&B, bluegrass, blues, jazz, electronica, rock and everything in between. Tonight Jaw Gems bring the party to 39 Clark Street for a by-donation-gig that is sure to get your Saturday grooving in the right direction. Jams get started right around 6pm.
The Living Room Series continues at The Hive in Kennebunk tonight with three phenomenal Portland players. This evening John Nels, Jeff Beam and Tanner Smith will each play sets of their original tunes for a night of unplugged, acoustic jams that are sure to please your earholes. Things get buzzing right around 8 o’clock.
Wu-Tang’s Ispectah Deck takes the stage at Port City Music Hall this evening for a hip-hop show of epic propotions. Opening up the evening are two of Portland’s most talked about rap groups, Sandbag and Trails. If you are an appreciator of everything beat and rhyme driven then I would highly suggest getting yourself over to Port City for 8pm tonight.
The Big Easy’s Saturday Soul, Jazz, and Blues Series continues tonight with The Stephanie Fisher Band and Line of Force. Line of Force returns to the stage after a long hiatus and The Stephanie Fisher Band actually makes its debut this evening as killer nine-piece band. It’s sure to be a helluva night full of powerful soul, funk and rock so check it out beginning at 8.
The 4th Annual 48 Hour Music Festival is happening once again over at SPACE Gallery in Portland this evening where 30 musicians from different bands all around Portland come together to create 6 supergroups who have been given exactly 48 hours since Thursay to come up with a 25-minute set of original material for tonight’s performance. Tonight’s pool of talent includes members of Butcher Boy, Isobell, Marie Stella, The Coalsack Crux, Heavy Breathing, Waranimal and more. Things get started over at SPACE right around 8:30pm.
Velourosaurus invades MyTie in Brunswick this evening. If you’re looking to get down to everything from Zep to Cee Lo Green to The Beatles and Stevie Wonder, MyTie is probably your place to be. Fronted by guitar virtuoso and all-around-nice-guy Eric Bettencourt, Velourosaurus always bring the party, so bring your can over to MyTie for 8:30 tonight.
A full on ruckus of rock and roll takes over The Dover Brickhouse this evening as The Connection, The Migs, Mmoss and Portland’s own Kurt Baker Band bring the thunder to Dover Rock City. It’s gonna be a night full of moving and shaking so if you’re in the need for a little rock n’ roll thunder, get it on over to The Dover Brickhouse starting at 8 tonight.
