Ah yes, time for some groovin’ on a Sunday afternoon.  It’s been quite the weekend already, but Sunday isn’t slowing down for anyone.  Here’s what’s shaking this evening.

I’ve had the opportunity to play host over at the MAMM Slam this weekend as they get through the preliminary rounds of this year’s battle of the bands.  Beginning at 2 o’clock today you can check out the last round of talented teens as they take the stage at The Big Easy in hopes of being top dog and earning $1,000 in cash as well as other cool prizes.  MAMM also welcomes local indie rockers The Milkman’s Union to the stage to close out tomorrow’s show. Finalists will be announced at the end of the evening.

Berwick’s Too Late The Hero returns from tour with a welcome back show at The Dover Brickhouse in New Hampshire this evening.  Beginning at 5, Too Late The Hero will be joined by rockers Legend Has It, With Her Last Wish, and She Has Fallen for a hometown show of epic proportions.

If you’re looking for some quality ska to round out your Sunday evening then shine those dancin’ shoes and get on over to Port City Music Hall in Portland where NYC’s The Slackers will be headlining.  Also taking the stage tonight will be The Pomps, El Grande and All Good Feel Good Collective.  Things get crackin’ right around 8 o’clock.

Another installment of Drop It: Open Tables Night at Flask Lounge in Portland takes place this evening.  Beginning at 9pm you can sign up for a slot DJing on some open tables, all you need to bring are some records, CDs, and a pair of headphones.  Tonight DJ Turd Ferguson will be provide an opening set and support for any beginners.

Another edition of The Couch with host John Nels takes place tonight over at Empire Dine and Dance in Portland.  The Couch is one of the most assorted open mic nights around town that not only gives musicians a place to play their tunes in front of an audience, but also hosts a local artist or act each Sunday who performs a 45-minute set.  Tonight The Couch welcomes local indie folk outfit Yes We Kin for a full set of tunes starting up at 10pm.  The Couch begins right around 9.

Drop some knowledge.
