Eternal Otter Records announced yesterday they will release the third volume of Treble Treble, a music compilation of Portland artists, in partnership with SPACE Gallery sometime this fall. This new collaboration brings a new offering from the Treble Treble series: a vinyl LP release from Eternal Otter. And the Portland-based label is looking to finance the project in part through crowdfunding via IndieGoGo.com.
So far, Eternal Otter Records have raised $125 towards their goal of $1,000.
Those who choose to give money to the project will receive past releases from Eternal Otter’s catalog depending on their donation level. For example, those who donate $10 will receive Lady Lamb the Beekeeper’s “Samples for Handsome Animals.”
Following past Treble Treble curators Joshua Loring (of Brenda) and Bryan Bruchman (of HillyTown), former SPACE Gallery events programmer Ian Paige has taken the helm to showcase some of his favorite local acts before he leaves for an indefinite cross-country tour with his band Planets Around The Sun.
The third volume’s track listing is:
- “Time Warp” by Nasty Negligee
- “(just another) night of terror” by Kent
- “She-Wander(er)” by Big Blood
- “Nineteen” by Samuel James
- “Back to Where We are Final” by Village of Spaces
- “Slows Shards” by Wesley Hartley & the Traveling Trees
- “Glittering Fit” by Gay Camp
- “Encroaching Furniture” by Drab Pony
- “Three Orphans” by Jakob Battick & Friends
- “Red Sands” by Phantom Buffalo
“Everyone is Maine-based, but I did decide to branch out of just Portland for this one,” Paige said in an e-mail interview. “Village of Spaces are up in Belfast, Nasty Negligee was based up in Brunswick for the most part – all the bands still felt like part of the fabric of the scene – or, more appropriately, a patchwork of scenes.”
All tracks have been mastered by Ron Harrity at Forest City Studio, and many of them are considered rare or unreleased.
One track has been released on Bandcamp as a preview for what’s to come. Listen to Big Blood’s “She-Wander(er)” here:
The front cover artwork for volume three (shown above) was done by Colleen Kinsella of Big Blood, and you can see more of her work at the Portland Museum of Art’s 2011 biennial right now.
All volumes of Treble Treble have been partly funded by an “Artists in Maine Communities” grant provided by the Maine Arts Commission.
