Don’t freak out, but I may know of an opportunity for you to meet Darth Vader. Well, no, you won’t be meeting James Earl Jones or David Prowse. Not even Hayden Christensen (though who the fridge would want to meet him is beyond me). So I guess really you just get to meet some dude dressed up as Darth Vader. But come on, that’s still pretty cool. Also, there’s pie. FREE pie. Maybe I should’ve led with the pie. Here’s the deal:
This Saturday, October 20th Woodard & Curran Foundation is hosting their 2nd Annual Easy as Pi Road Race/Walk. For those not in the know, Woodard & Curran Foundation is a non-profit organization keen on making the world a better place by providing resources to environmental causes that incorporate health or educational missions. This is event is only a 3.14 mile race (ain’t no thang). And after you’ve burned all those calories saving the planet and our educational systems, you get to eat FREE PIE. And t-shirt collectors, prepare yourselves: there’s a shirt in it for you as well. You can even look forward to a Zumba flash mob (please no Kennebunk jokes). But here’s what I’m stoked about: Star Wars and Maine Ghostbuster characters will be in attendance. Nothing quite pairs with a fine piece of pie like a Sith Lord, am I right?
Again, the funds raised via registration (register here for only $15) go towards the foundation and its green-friendly missions. And while helping out non-profits is important, let’s get real: it’ll also probably get you laid. It’s like the equivalent to walking a puppy around the boulevard. No — walking a rescued puppy around the boulevard. Everyone digs that.
But really, this race is going to be cool. And helping out this organization is even cooler. Just ask Vader. No Jedi mind tricks involved.
The race starts at 9am at 41 Hutchins Drive in Portland.
