If you’re from the area, you may remember a glorious time when laughter filled Portland’s Empire Dine and Dance, back when they put on comedy shows. You may also remember those comedy nights disappearing. This maybe depressed you. Forced to sit at home and watch YouTube clips of the Empire comedy days of yore. If so, Jeeezum, get a life, bro. But I get where you’re coming from. Comedy at Empire is pretty neat. So you’ll most likely be pretty stoked to hear that jokes will once again be told to hecklers and supporters alike in the recently renovated upstairs of Empire.
Saturday, August 25th Empire presents “East Coast vs. Mid Coast vs. West Coast Comedy.” Comics Luke Hanbury and Timmy Brochu return from LA and Chicago, respectively, to go up against fellow Maine-bred comics, Ian Stuart, Joe Ricchio, and Jordan Handren-Seavey (Portland’s Funniest Professional 2012). You should definitely show up and see what happens to comedians once they leave the great Pine Tree State. Hosted by Paul Hunt (yup, that guy that got tased), this is sure to be a pretty uproarious evening.
It’s only $5 and the 21+ show starts at 9:30pm. Considering Joe Ricchio will be there telling jokes, I suggest everyone easily offended definitely show up.
