Holy flippin’ mother of pearl, it’s finally Friday which means it’s finally the freakin’ weekend, babies, and I’m about to have some fun!  Lots of ways to tear it up this evening so let’s dive right in.

A full night of rocking and rolling takes place down in southern Maine this evening over at The Oak and The Ax where a triple shot of awesome takes place this evening.  Bangor’s When Particles Collide bring their captivating, high-energy act to the stage alongside fellow Bangorites Temperature of the Sun, who deliver indie pop goodness, and Boston rock and rollers Aloud will round out this evening’s bill.  Things get cranking right around 8 o’clock.

It’s been a while since Primo Cubano have played a show in Portland, so if you’re in need of some classic Cuban music to boogie down to, then get your can over to One Longfellow Square in Portland to dance the night away.  Primo Cubano are ready to deliver tunes to make you shake and sweat starting at 8 o’clock.

The Hive in Kennebunk invites you to their Bluegrass and Wine Series this evening as they feature local act The Coloradas The Coloradas, who just released their debut album, deliver traditional bluegrass with a modern day feel, so if you’re in the area stop by and check it out starting at 8pm.

The Big Easy is wrought with jams this evening as three great acts take the stage for a night of non-stop music.  The super-talented and super-fun John Clavette Band will kick things off this evening alongside Boston Americana group Comanchero, before headliners Dirigo take the stage.  Dirigo, which features members of Strangefolk (who have a sold out show coming up at The State Theatre), will bring to life their folk/alt-country jams for all this evening.  Things get grooving right around 9pm this evening over at The Big Easy.

Geno’s lives up to its name of rock club this evening as it welcomes Portland rockers Sun Gods in Exile, Heart Shaped Rock and Two Forty Gordy to their stage.  Sun Gods bring the southern fried rock while Heart Shaped Rock and Two Forty Gordy take a more straightforward RnR approach.  Get ready to get your hair blown back this evening beginning at 9 o’clock.

I’m very intrigued about the talented trio, yes trio that is Grand Hotel who’ll be playing their first show of 2012 this evening.  The alternative pop/rock band has gone through some massive changes in the last year and are debuting a boat load of new tunes this evening as they take the stage of the newly renovated Empire Dine and Dance in Portland.  Joining Grand Hotel is another band I’ve been meaning to check out known as The Other Bones.  It’s sure to be a night entirely worth the cover charge, so if you’re around check it out and we can spill our drinks together while we dance the night away.
