A note from the editor: Seacoast, NH is home to a close-knit group of musicians and supporters. They are tirelessly working together to bring you the best music possible. This listing is a personal reflection on the BEST from these artists in 2011.
5. Afraid to Dream by Eyenine
I got to hear this album be put together first hand. Mike (eyenine – producer) and Matt (engineer/co-producer) worked together tirelessly for the better part of 2011. This proved to be a very interesting partnership. Eyenine has a standard for perfection that is unmatched and he writes very eloquently. The above track is one of those bouncing ball sing-alongs that really embeds itself in your brain.
4. Sorry For Rapping by Nobody Cares
Seth is one of those guys I have always appreciated. It’s tough to break out of such a small music scene, but it can be done. One of my favorite moments of 2011 was sharing the stage with Seth at The Brickhouse a couple months ago.
3. Stop Talking EP by The Connection
These guys are fairly new to me, but the more I listen to them, the more I like them. The members are from bands that have always played an intricate role in defining the Seacoast music scene. If you are familiar with The Guts, The Queers, or the Rydells, then The Connection is your new jam!
2. Transatlantic EP by Reverend Todd Seely
Reverend Todd Seely has spent the past eight months of 2011 in Africa entertaining some TV audiences to the people of Zambia and abroad. He is home THIS MONTH and will be performing his new album (recorded in those countries) called Transatlantic EP. If you are familiar with The Bruisers then check out Todd!
1. AMRica by A Minor Revolution
2011 was the year of “the studio” in Seacoast. There are so many memories in that place that will live on forever in my mind. The above video documented one of favorite things I will remember from 2011. When A Minor Revolution recorded a video session, I remember the best nights being the low-key nights like these. If you like freedom, listen to these guys.
