It’s shitty outside and kind of cold in the office, which means all I want to do is listen to mellow rock and sip herbal tea. But I’ve got a big mug of camomile and the tunes of Adelyn Rose, so life is pretty good. Haven’t heard of Adelyn Rose? Let me introduce you to your new favorite indie rockers.

Hailing from the fair (and far) state of Wisconsin, Adelyn Rose is made up of Adelyn Strei on vocals, Leo Strei on bass, and Dave Power on drums. Their sound is sweetly melodic and a little bit dreamy, but with enough low-fi grunge sensibility to keep that ethereal sound from floating away in the haze. It’s a great soundtrack for rainy days, but probably equally fitting for smoke-filled afternoons on the beach. If that sounds like something you would want to hear live, listen up: The band will be playing the Bayside Bowl on October 11, alongside local groups If and It and Bath Salts. Tickets are a bargain at just $5 a pop. Basically, you have no excuse not to go.

But first, check out our Q&A with the up-and-coming group, below.

You’re coming a long way to play at the Bayside Bowl. What brings you to Maine?
We will be in Portland on Thursday, October 11th for the 7th show of our east coast tour. We are touring out to Brooklyn, up to Portland, down to Greensboro, and back to Wisconsin through Georgia, Tennessee, and Illinois.

What do you think of the other groups you’re sharing a stage with? Have you heard them? Are you fans of their work?
We love If and It and Bath Salts. Dave found If and It online while searching for Portland bands to play with, and dug their sound. They were available for the date, and Evan asked the band Bath Salts to be the second local for the show. Dig their sound as well, especially the name. Makes us think of face-eating.

Have you played in Portland before? What do you think of the city?
Dave has played in Portland before at Slainte Wine Bar with his previous Eau Claire, WI band, Meridene. He really liked the city a lot. They visited a record store, the art museum, and a cozy, pink-colored burrito shop. He forgets the names, but believes they’re all on the main drag by The Space Gallery.

I know this is hard to do, but can you describe your music in ten words or less?
It’s indie pop rock female-fronted from Wisconsin eight nine ten.

What are your biggest musical influences?
St. Vincent, David Bazan, Land of Talk, Happy Apple, and Ray Lynch.

If your Tour EP was a movie, what other records would Netflix recommend?
1. Pedro the Lion, Control
2. Bat For Lashes, Two Suns
3. Cryptacize, Mythomania
4. Twin Sister, Color Your Life
5. Wye Oak, Civilian

Do you have any tour rituals?
Well, we don’t have a lot of tour “rituals”, but here are some things: Avoiding fast food, stopping at every possible Target, doing yoga a few times a week, making a point to watch each local band, eating at McDonald’s, listening to Radiolab and This American Life, blogging about each city (www.adelynrose.tumblr.com), and for this tour Dave is typing up a tour itinerary for each band member that includes the Letter of the Day, the Color of the Day, the Band of the Day (car stereo-wise), and the Food of the Day.

Why should we come out and see your show?
You should come out to see our show because we hear that Bayside Bowl is an awesome place with great food, drinks, and you can bowl there AND see live music. What the heck that’s awesome. Also, two great Portland bands are playing and supporting local music is paramount to keeping good music alive. But, most importantly, we’re on tour, we like to make music, and you like to see people make music, so let’s have a party.

Drop some knowledge.
