Bar Harbor Blueberry Ale
EST. CALORIES: 156 ABV: 5.2%
Sorry for being late to the party everybody. What we have here is one of the greatest summer beers that this state has ever known, and here I am featuring it in October. But who cares anyway? Good beer is good any time of the year, and we could all use a little reminder of the warmer months.
Everything about this beer suggests (loudly) that it should be super sweet and fairly one-note. But this one throws a good old curveball. This is one of the few blueberry beers out there that sort of tastes like beer. It even has the right color; it pours a deep amber, with very little to no head. The smell is nearly identical with the taste. Strong fruity and blueberry aromas let you know exactly what you are getting into. With most fruity or hybrid beers, the distinctive taste seem to always hit you towards the end. In contrast, Bar Harbor Blueberry Ale skips all the foreplay and jumps right out with the blueberry flavor, and a subtle aftertaste of a mild ale. I already know what you’re thinking and you have my complete blessing to do so: Go ahead and pour a handful of blueberries to float around in your mug. It can only enhance the drinking experience.
Snobby food pairing: brie, figs, grapes, strawberries, or cherries
