14 Killer Super Bowl XLVI Parties in Maine

So your buddy somehow got tickets to the big game and canceled his annual Super Bowl Party? While you could sadly watch the game alone in your apartment, lamenting the loss of the buffalo chicken dip and comraderie that usually comes with your favorite Sunday of the year, I’ve got a better solution. Get out of the house and take advantage of one of the many awesome Super Bowl parties going on around the state. No one should watch the Pats beat New York alone. No one!

1. Binga’s Stadium

If you’ve been here before then you know they have about six gazillion televisions for your sports viewing pleasure. Sunday, you can expect $5 pitchers and $16 beer towers. Throw in some Thai-BBQ wings and holy smokes, have you got a Super Bowl party! Word to the wise: this place is going to be hoppin’ so get there early or get used to standing.

2. Flask Lounge

For a Super Bowl party with more of a neighborhood feel, head to your favorite West End bar. Nothing says neighborhood party more than a pot-luck. That’s right — whip up your favorite football treat to share and bring it on down to cheer on the Pats. Also, did we mention The Flask is the home of the Moxie Bomb? Moxie and J├Ąger…that’s a happy Super Bowl indeed.

3. Dock Fore

My father met my stepmother at this bar so if you’re a sports fan and haven’t got a date for Valentine’s Day yet, why not kill two birds with one stone and attend Dock Fore’s Super Bowl party? Even if you don’t meet the man/woman of your dreams while screaming yourself hoarse at the TV, at least they will be serving PBRs for less than $2. Love shmlove. Plus, they’ve got a pregame tailgate party with loads of FREE food starting at 4pm.

As a grown woman, I still can’t help but giggle at the name of this establishment. But immaturity aside, this sports bar will have drink specials and jello shots galore. Yup. Jello shots. You can relive college and watch the Super Bowl. If you get sick of watching Eli Manning cry, you can hit up Fore Play’s Big Buck Hunter arcade game.

College kids up in Orono, you aren’t doomed to watch the Super Bowl in a 15′ x 15′ dorm room. The Bear Brew offers an 84″ screen (among several other TVs), an all you can eat buffet, and buckets of beer. I bet that sounds a lot better than sharing the bean bag chair with your roommate as you fight over the last Keystone Light, huh? Pro Tip: sign up early to reserve your spot!

11. Rivalries

While the sweet chili buffalo wings are reason enough to hit up this Portland sports bar for the Super Bowl, they also have 30 TVs. Heads up, though — this is a bar that doesn’t believe in happy hour. They prefer a happy day: $4 Blood Mary’s and Mimosas all day long on Sundays!

If you’re up in the midcoast for the Super Bowl, definitely check out The Strand. They’ll be showing the game live on their big screen and it’s free! Their Balcony Bar will be open for those 21+, and expect plenty of munchies. Even better, The Strand is collecting non-perishable food and paper goods for the AIO Food Pantry at this year’s Super Bowl Party. So you watch the biggest game of the year and do good by your fellow humans. Pretty awesome.

14. El Rayo

Now I know it’s a stereotype to assume all football fans are men. Tons of ladies love the sport, too. However, if you’re a gal that just isn’t feeling the whole Super Bowl Sunday thing, El Rayo’s got you covered. Sunday night they’re hosting Ladies Night, where you’re free to ignore or embrace the game. While they don’t have it on the big screen, they’ve got free wireless if you absolutely need to know the score. Featuring free chips and salsa, $1 oysters, and $5 sparkling wine, this is the perfect way to kick it with your girls and catch up. And with happy hour specials all night long, you ladies may want to call a cab home!
